Uzbekistan finalized bilateral negotiations with Pakistan and Thailand as part of its accession process to the WTO. “We welcome Uzbekistan to the WTO soon and are certain that this membership will bring greater trade and investment to Uzbekistan,” representative of Thailand said.
US trade representative Katherine Tai had meetings with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and several ministers in Tashkent. The ambassador reaffirmed the intention of the US to support Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, and to resume granting trade preferences under the GSP system.

Uzbekistan intends to access the WTO by the 14th Ministerial Conference in Cameroon in 2026, deputy prime minister Jamshid Khodjayev said. He led the country’s delegation at the 8th meeting of the Working Party on the Accession of Uzbekistan to the WTO.
